I was someone who liked to cook until I became a mother. That still hasn't changed. It has just changed what I cook more often than I'd like to.
Mom’s Apple Pie:
6 lrg. apples, peeled and diced thin (Red Delicious apples)
¾ c sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
4 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
¼ tsp nutmeg
Make pie crust (vinegar pie crust) Put apples in pie crust. Pour sugar over apples. Sprinkle flour over top. Sprinkle cinnamon over. Sprinkle nutmeg over top. Arrange approx 4 parts butter on top of mixture. Cover with top crust & bake 350 for approx 50 minutes. (cut slits in top crust to let the steam out)
Option 2: Apple crumble
Follow directions above only omit the top crust and replace with crumble recipe below.
Crumble Topping:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup granola (I used Quaker granola cereal and removed the raisins)
1/2 cup sugar
3 to 6 Tbs butter
Mix the above ingredients until it becomes a crumbly texture. Add to top of pie and following cooking directions above. Enjoy!
